Thai Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow)

This Thai Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow) is a spicy, savory stir-fry with ground chicken, chilies, garlic, and vibrant Thai basil, all topped with a crispy-edged fried egg and served over jasmine rice. Ready in under 30 minutes, it’s the perfect bold and comforting weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 5 Thai chilies, finely chopped
  • 1 cup green beans, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 2 cups cooked jasmine rice
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  1. Heat a wok or large skillet over high heat. Add oil and let it shimmer.
  2. Add garlic and chilies, stir-fry until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  3. Add ground chicken and cook until browned and cooked through.
  4. Add green beans and stir for 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in oyster sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, dark soy sauce, and sugar. Mix well.
  6. Let sauce bubble and reduce slightly.
  7. Turn off heat, add Thai basil, and stir until wilted.
  8. Fry eggs in hot oil until edges are crispy.
  9. Serve chicken over rice, topped with a fried egg.

Notes

  • Use sweet basil if Thai basil isn’t available.
