Tandoori Tacos

Tandoori Tacos

Tandoori Tacos bring together smoky Indian spices and the handheld joy of tacos. Juicy tandoori beef is wrapped in soft tortillas and topped with crisp vegetables, pickled onions, and a tangy yogurt drizzle for a fusion dish that bursts with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 500g beef (sirloin or flank steak), thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 small flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1/2 cup julienned carrots
  • 1/2 cup pickled red onions
  • Red chili slices, to taste
  • 1/4 cup fried crispy onions
  • 1/2 cup yogurt sauce (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Heat a cast iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix yogurt, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, and all the spices. Add the sliced beef and coat well. Marinate for at least 30 minutes or overnight for deeper flavor.
  3. Lightly oil the skillet or grill pan.
  4. Cook the marinated beef in batches until browned and cooked through, about 5–6 minutes per batch.
  5. Warm the tortillas in a dry pan or microwave until soft and pliable.
  6. Assemble the tacos by layering lettuce, carrots, beef, pickled onions, red chili slices, and crispy onions. Drizzle with yogurt sauce.
  7. Serve immediately while warm with lime wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Marinate the beef overnight for richer flavor.
  • Try grilling the beef for added smokiness.
  • Customize toppings with mango, slaw, or avocado.
  • Use Greek yogurt for a thicker marinade and sauce.
