Marble Loaf Cake

Marble Loaf Cake

A buttery, moist Marble Loaf Cake with a rich swirl of chocolate and vanilla, perfect for breakfast, dessert, or a cozy snack any time of day.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a 9×5 inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture.
  4. Divide the batter evenly into two bowls. In one bowl, mix the cocoa powder with hot water and stir into the batter to create the chocolate mixture.
  5. Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared loaf pan. Swirl gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  6. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Slice and serve as is or with powdered sugar or glaze on top.

Notes

  • Let ingredients come to room temperature before starting for better mixing.
  • Don’t over-swirl the batters or the marbling will blend too much.
  • Wrap and store in an airtight container to keep moist for several days.
  • Freeze in slices for easy future snacking.
