Manicotti

Classic Italian manicotti stuffed with creamy ricotta, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese, baked in rich marinara sauce for the ultimate comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 14 manicotti shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and lightly oil a 9×13 baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix ricotta, half the mozzarella, Parmesan, egg, parsley, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  3. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce on the bottom of the baking dish.
  4. Boil manicotti shells until al dente, then drain and cool slightly.
  5. Fill each shell with the cheese mixture using a piping bag or spoon and arrange them over the sauce.
  6. Top with remaining marinara, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Cover with foil.
  7. Bake for 30 minutes covered, then uncover and bake for 10 more minutes until bubbly and golden.
  8. Let rest 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with extra parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use a piping bag to make filling easier and cleaner.
  • Don’t overcook the pasta to prevent tearing.
  • Letting the dish rest after baking helps the filling set.
  • Make it ahead and refrigerate overnight before baking.
