French Chocolate Fondant

French Chocolate Fondant

This French Chocolate Fondant is a rich, decadent dessert with a molten, fudgy center and a crisp outer crust. Easy to make and perfect for entertaining or treating yourself to something indulgent.

Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 150g unsalted butter, cubed
  • 150g granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 50g all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar, for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and line a loaf pan or small cake tin with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the chocolate and butter together over a water bath or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth.
  3. Whisk in the sugar, followed by the eggs one at a time. Mix well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract, a pinch of salt, and the flour until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and tap gently to remove air bubbles.
  6. Optionally, top with walnuts or chocolate chunks.
  7. Bake for 18–22 minutes, until the edges are set and the center is still slightly jiggly.
  8. Cool for 10–15 minutes before removing from the pan. Dust with powdered sugar and serve.

Notes

  • Use high-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa) for the best flavor.
  • Do not overbake or you’ll lose the soft center.
  • Serve warm for a gooey texture or chilled for a firmer bite.
