These Chocolate Snowball Cookies are fudgy, rich, and coated in powdered sugar for the perfect bite-sized treat. A holiday favorite that’s simple to make and impossible to resist.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (plus more for rolling)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup mini chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and 1/2 cup powdered sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  4. Stir in the mini chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced evenly apart.
  6. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until the bottoms are just set.
  7. Let the cookies cool for 5 minutes, then roll them in powdered sugar while still warm.
  8. Once completely cool, roll them in powdered sugar a second time for a snowy finish.

Notes

  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for best flavor.
  • Chilling the dough helps the cookies maintain their shape.
  • Store in an airtight container to keep cookies fresh and soft.
