Ingredients

  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Fine Sea Salt
  • 2 large Eggs
  • ¾ cup Granulated Sugar
  • ½ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

  • ½ cup Whole Milk or Non-Dairy Milk
  • 1 tablespoon White Vinegar
  • Powdered Sugar (optional, for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line with parchment paper.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Add sugar, eggs, olive oil, vanilla, milk, and vinegar. Whisk until smooth.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan. Tap gently to remove air bubbles.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Batter is ready to bake — no additional assembly needed.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  6. Finishing Touches: Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Slice and serve plain or with whipped cream, berries, or chocolate drizzle.

Notes

  • Use a mild, fruity olive oil for best flavor.
  • Add orange zest or espresso powder for a flavor twist.
  • Let the cake cool fully before slicing for cleaner cuts.
