Chicken Cordon Bleu

Chicken Cordon Bleu

Crispy chicken cordon bleu filled with savory ham and melted cheese, baked until golden and sliced to reveal its creamy, comforting center.

Ingredients

  • 4 chicken fillets, about 150 g each
  • 4 thin slices ham
  • 4 slices Swiss style cheese
  • 60 g all purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 100 g breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C and lightly oil a baking dish.
  2. Season the chicken fillets evenly with salt, pepper, and paprika.
  3. Place one slice of ham and one slice of cheese on each fillet, then roll tightly.
  4. Prepare three bowls with flour, beaten eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  5. Roll each chicken piece in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs, pressing gently to coat.
  6. Place the coated rolls in the baking dish and lightly brush or spray with oil.
  7. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden and cooked through.
  8. Rest for 5 minutes, slice, and serve warm.

Notes

  • Chilling the rolls before breading helps them hold shape.
  • Let the chicken rest before slicing to keep the filling intact.
  • Serve with vegetables or a fresh salad for balance.
