Cheesy Potato Pops

Cheesy Potato Pops

Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, these cheesy potato pops are stuffed with melty cheese and pan-cooked until golden. A comforting snack or appetizer that disappears fast.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams potatoes, boiled and mashed
  • 150 grams mozzarella cheese, cut into small cubes
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs, finely chopped
  • Cooking oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Boil the potatoes until fork-tender, then mash until smooth and let cool slightly.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine mashed potatoes, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, herbs, and cornstarch until fully mixed.
  3. Take a small portion of the potato mixture, flatten it in your hand, and place a cube of mozzarella in the center.
  4. Carefully roll into a smooth ball, sealing the cheese inside.
  5. Roll each ball evenly in breadcrumbs to coat.
  6. Heat oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat.
  7. Cook the potato pops, turning gently, until golden and crisp on all sides.
  8. Remove and place on paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  9. Serve warm while the cheese is melted.

Notes

  • Chilling the shaped pops for 15 minutes helps them hold their shape.
  • Use a cheese that melts well for the best texture.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure even crisping.
