Beef Tips with Gravy

Tender beef tips slowly simmered in a rich, savory gravy. This comforting dish is perfect served over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles, and brings a warm, hearty flavor to any dinner table.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds stew meat or sirloin tips, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup water
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Place a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat and let it preheat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, toss the beef with flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until evenly coated.
  3. Add olive oil to the skillet and sear the beef in batches until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  4. Deglaze the pan with a splash of broth, scraping up any browned bits. Add remaining broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme. Return beef to skillet.
  5. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours, until beef is fork-tender.
  6. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with water to create a slurry. Stir into the skillet and let it simmer uncovered for 5 minutes until thickened.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium broth to control salt levels.
  • Feel free to add mushrooms or onions for extra flavor.
  • Let the beef simmer low and slow for the best tenderness.
  • Refrigerate leftovers and reheat with a splash of broth for next-day meals.
