Beef Teriyaki Stir Fry

A quick and satisfying beef teriyaki stir fry made with tender slices of beef, crisp broccoli, and colorful bell peppers tossed in a glossy sweet and savory sauce that tastes better than takeout.

Ingredients

  • 450 g beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/3 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons neutral cooking oil
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium high heat.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and the cornstarch slurry.
  3. Add cooking oil to the hot pan.
  4. Sear the beef in a single layer for 2 to 3 minutes per side until just cooked, then remove and set aside.
  5. Add onion, broccoli, and bell pepper to the pan and stir fry for 3 to 4 minutes until crisp tender.
  6. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds.
  7. Return the beef to the pan and pour in the sauce.
  8. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens and coats everything evenly.
  9. Remove from heat, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Slice the beef against the grain for the most tender texture.
  • Keep the pan hot to avoid steaming the meat.
  • Taste the sauce before adding and adjust sweetness if needed.
