Beef Lasagna

Beef Lasagna

This hearty beef lasagna features rich layers of savory meat sauce, creamy ricotta, and gooey mozzarella, all baked to perfection in a classic comfort food favorite.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 9–12 lasagna noodles, cooked or oven-ready
  • 2 cups mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 1/2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft, then add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Add ground beef and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15–20 minutes.
  4. In a medium bowl, mix ricotta cheese with egg and half of the parmesan cheese. Set aside.
  5. Spread a spoonful of meat sauce in the baking dish. Add a layer of noodles, then ricotta mixture, mozzarella cheese, and sauce. Repeat layers, ending with sauce and remaining mozzarella and parmesan on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for another 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let rest for 15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use no-boil noodles for faster prep, just ensure your sauce has enough moisture.
  • Let lasagna rest before slicing to hold its shape better.
  • Add a layer of sautéed spinach or mushrooms for extra flavor.
